Check of a condition of brake boots

Remember that developed in the course of operation of brake mechanisms the dust can contain extremely unhealthy the person asbestos. At all do not blow off a dust the compressed air and do not inhale it, - at service of mechanisms put on a protective mask or a respirator. At all do not use for rubbing of components of brake system by gasoline or solvents on an oil basis, - apply only firm cleaners or methyl alcohol!


Make service of brake assemblies serially, - in case of need the second can be used as an example.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a brake drum (see. Section Removal, installation and check of a condition of a brake drum).

2. Measure residual thickness of frictional overlays of brake boots.

3. At wear of slips below limiting admissible value (1.0 mm) replace boots assembled with drums.

In order to avoid loss by the car of course stability during braking, replacement of components of brake mechanisms should be made for both assemblies of one axis in a set.

4. At identification of an appreciable difference in residual thickness of blocks from the left and right side of the car check serviceability of functioning of wheel cylinders and estimate a condition of working surfaces of their pistons.
