Disk brake mechanisms - the general information

The principle of functioning of disk brake mechanisms is extremely simple: when squeezing a pedal of a foot brake made brake disk rigidly jointed with wheel assembly of cast iron densely is clamped between two equipped frictional slips blocks. Modern brake disks have a ventilated design that considerably increases efficiency of a heat-conducting path from assembly and prevents a dangerous overheat of components. Arising during wheel rotation centrifugal force reliably protects working surfaces of a disk from education on them any sort of mud deposits that guarantees uniformity of a clip of the blocks, providing smoothness of braking of a vehicle.

Adjustment of disk brake mechanisms is made automatically and is put in an assembly design. Distinguish three various types of disk brake mechanisms:

· With the fixed support;
· With a sliding support;
· With a floating bracket.

The fixed supports have a two-cylinder design in which two separate pistons press frictional blocks to both parties of a brake disk. Actually the case of a support is thus established rigidly and absolutely motionless.

Mechanisms with a sliding support and a floating bracket by an action principle practically do not differ from each other, - in both designs the internal block nestles on a brake disk hydraulic effort, thus actually the support case / the floating bracket, in this case rigidly not fixed, is slightly displaced in an opposite direction, the return end pressing the second block to the outer side of a disk. Various ways of this sort of fastening of supports can be used, - some are equipped located from above or from below assemblies by an axis, on others as directing slidings fixing bolts are used.
